SUMMARY:10th international symposium of cognition,
logic and communication: Perspectives on Spatial
  Cognition, Riga, Latvia
DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20140912
DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20140913
LOCATION:Riga, Latvia
DESCRIPTION:The 10th Symposium for Cognition, Logi
c and Communication, to be held at the University
of Latvia in Riga on September 12-13, 2014, will f
ocus on the cognitive processing of space, its cog
nitive and formal representation, and its linguist
ic encoding. We will explore the content and the s
cope of spatial cognition and how universal it is.
The impact of non-spatial factors on spatial cogn
ition and transformations of spatial cognition int
 o non-spatial domains will be discussed. Scale-dep
endency of spatial cognition and differences betwe
 en small-scale and large-scale spatial cognition w
ill be explored. The syntax and semantics of locat
ive and other spatial expressions will be examined
, along with their relations to cognitive structur
es of spatial representation. For more informati
 on, see http://cognition.lu.lv/symp/10-call.html o
 r contact jurgis.skilters at lu.lv or jurgisskilte
rs at gmail.com. We welcome contributions from a
ll fields including cognitive science, psychology,
linguistics, computer science, and philosophy. In
terdisciplinary contributions are very much welcom
 e. In addition to individual papers, the scientifi
c committee will be considering proposals for 2-ho
 ur sub-symposia including 3-4 contributions. The d
eadline for submission is 15 february 2014.
