SUMMARY:8th International Workshop on Applications
of Semantic Technologies (AST 2014), Stuttgart, G
 ermany
DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20140922
DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20140926
LOCATION:Stuttgart, Germany
DESCRIPTION:Semantic Technologies encode meanings
explicitly and independent from concrete formats a
nd application logic. This enables machines and pe
ople likewise to understand, share, and reason ove
r semantically represented data during retrieval a
nd processing time. In the light of the W3C~s visi
on of a Web of linked data, Semantic Technologies
are substantial constituents for the creation of d
ata stores, the building of vocabularies for vario
us domains, and the specification of rules for han
dling data. The application of Semantic Technol
ogies is currently being investigated in various f
ields. The AST 2014 workshop will bring together r
esearchers and practitioners who work on applicati
ons of Semantic Technologies in order to foster cr
oss-fertilisation between application areas and ai
d technology transfer from foundational research i
nto practice. The workshop will provide an open an
d stimulating environment that brings together res
earchers, practitioners and users from various fie
lds to discuss goals, limitations and real experie
nces related to the application and deployment of
semantic technologies. For more information, see
http://ast2014.fzi.de or contact the AST 2014 org
anising committee: ast2014 at fzi.de We invite y
ou to submit original research, case studies, in-u
se, or position papers in English language of up t
o 12 pages. We also encourage you to submit demons
tration papers, which will be given special attent
ion in a separate slot (max. 8 pages). Submission
 deadline: April 22, 2014
