\n The focus of this conference is on different approaches to the\n foundations of mathemat ics. The interaction between\n set-theoreti c and category-theoretic foundations has had\n significant philosophical impact, and represen ts a shift in\n attitudes towards the philo sophy of mathematics. This\n conference wil l bring together leading scholars in these areas\n to showcase contemporary philosophical res earch on different\n approaches to the foun dations of mathematics.\n

\n\n To accomplish this, the conference has the f ollowing general\n aims and objectives. Fir st, to bring to a wider philosophical\n aud ience the different approaches that one can take t o the\n foundations of mathematics. Second, to elucidate the pressing\n issues of mean ing and truth that turn on these different\n approaches. And third, to address philosophical questions\n concerning the need for a foun dation of mathematics, and\n whether or not either of these approaches can provide the\n necessary foundation.\n
