DESCRIPTION:The Society for Philosophy of Science 
 in Practice (SPSP) is an interdisciplinary communi
 ty of scholars who approach the philosophy of scie
 nce with a focus on scientific practice and the pr
 actical uses of scientific knowledge. The SPSP con
 ferences provide a broad forum for scholars commit
 ted to making detailed and systematic studies of s
 cientific practices - neither dismissing concerns 
 about truth and rationality, nor ignoring contextu
 al and pragmatic factors. The conferences aim at c
 utting through traditional disciplinary barriers a
 nd developing novel approaches.    Keynote speaker
 s will include: Marcel Boumans (Eramus University 
 of Rotterdam), Nancy J. Nerssessian (Georgia Insti
 tute of Technology), Hans-Jörg Rheinberger (Max Pl
 anck Institute for the History of Science), and Lé
 na Soler (University of Paris-I). There will be a 
 pre-conference workshop on teaching philosophy of 
 science to scientists to be held at Aarhus Univers
 ity, Aarhus on 23 June, as well as a pre-conferenc
 e casual social event that evening.   For more inf

 k.    We welcome contributions from not only philo
 sophers of science, but also philosophers working 
 in epistemology and ethics, as well as the philoso
 phy of engineering, technology, medicine, agricult
 ure, and other practical fields. Additionally, we 
 welcome contributions from historians and sociolog
 ists of science, pure and applied scientists, and 
 any others with an interest in philosophical quest
 ions regarding scientific practice. We welcome bot
 h proposals for individual papers, and also strong
 ly encourage proposals for whole, thematic session
 s with coordinated papers, particularly those whic
 h include multiple disciplinary perspectives and/o
 r input from scientific practitioners. Abstract Su
