SUMMARY:Proper Names Workshop, Budapest, Hungary
DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20150518
DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20150519
LOCATION:Budapest, Hungary
DESCRIPTION:One of the central questions in philos
ophy of language and linguistic semantics in the 2
0th century was how we refer using proper names. C
ontemporary work on these issues is being conducte
d by both linguists and philosophers, and the natu
re of the topic and some of the recalcitrant probl
ems facing extant accounts call for their collabor
ative interaction. Accordingly, our invited partic
ipants include scholars from both fields. The work
shop will consist of six extended sessions over tw
o days, each led by one of our invited speakers, w
ith ample time for discussion and interaction with
the distinguished group of invited discussants.
Please let us know by May 5th if you would like
to attend, so we can plan accordingly. For more in
formation and a registration form, see http://ias.
ceu.edu/node/43092 or contact croberts at ling.osu
 .edu or zvolenszky at elte.hu.
