SUMMARY:17 or 18 September 2015, EMNLP Workshop on
Linking Models of Lexical, Sentential and Discour
 se-level Semantics (LSDSem 2015), Lisbon

DESCRIPTION:Improved computational models of seman
tics hold great promise for applications in langua
ge technology, be it semantics at the lexical leve
l, sentence level or discourse level. Large-scale
corpora with corresponding annotations (word sense
s, propositions, attributions and discourse relati
ons) are making it possible to develop statistical
models for many tasks and applications. However,
developments in lexical and sentence-level semanti
cs remain largely distinct from those in discourse
semantics. This workshop aims at bridging this ga
p by bringing together researchers to discuss how
multiple levels of semantics can be integrated and
implemented in various applications. Our goal i
s to gather and showcase theoretical and computati
onal approaches to joint models of semantics, and
 applications that incorporate multi-level semantic
 s. We hope to bring together researchers from vari
ous areas: computational linguistics who strive fo
r more expressive models of language understanding
, linguists and cognitive scientists interested in
aspects of representing text with multiple levels
of semantics, machine learning researchers intere
sted in joint inference over different types of se
mantic cues, and also researchers who are interest
ed in applications that require or will benefit fr
om multi-level semantics. A dialog between researc
hers has great potential to advance work in each o
f these areas and bring about more powerful and en
riched models of text semantics. For more informa
 tion, see http://homepages.inf.ed.ac.uk/mroth/LSDS
em/ The Programme Committee cordially invites al
l researchers to submit their papers for presentat
ion. Submission deadline is 28 June 2015.
