DESCRIPTION:The North American Summer School on Lo
gic, Language, and Information (NASSLLI) is a summ
er school that meets approximately every other sum
mer. It is geared towards gradaute students and ad
vanced undergraduate students in fields such as Co
gnitive Science, Computer Science, Linguistics, an
d Philosophy. Instructors are senior researchers w
ho have helped to found and advance the research i
n these fields, as well as junior researchers help
ing to expand upon previous work and shape new dir
ections of these fields. One of the strongest aspe
cts of NASSLLI is an excitement about interdiscipl
inary research that brings people across these fie
lds together. NASSLLI 2016 will consist of a seri
es of courses and workshops, among which are five
featured courses taught by Johan van Benthem, Mari
a Bittner, Reinhard Muskens, Uli Sattler, and Bria
n Skyrms. In addition, there will be intensive tra
ining on a small set of foundational topics the we
ekend prior to the start of courses. Early bird r
egistration deadline: April 15th, 2016. For more i
 nformation, see http://nasslli2016.rutgers.edu/ W
e invite proposals for courses and workshops that
fall into the areas of logic, linguistics, compute
r science, cognitive science, philosophy and artif
 icial intelligence, and interdisciplinary overlap
among them. Examples of possible topics include lo
gics for communication, computational semantics, m
odal logics, game theory and decision theory, dyna
mic semantics, machine learning, Bayesian cognitiv
e modeling, probabilistic models of language and c
ommunication, and automated theorem proving. By de
fault, courses and workshops meet for 90 minutes o
n each of five days. Classes may be co-taught by u
p to two people. Deadline for proposals: September
  30, 2015.
