DESCRIPTION:There are various forms of reported sp
eech in which the aspect of reporting is somehow b
ackgrounded, or not-at-issue. and the content of t
he report itself, i.e., the complement or quoted p
hrase, serves as the main point. In this workshop
we want to bring together the more or less disjoin
t strands of research on the different classes of
backgrounded reporting to explore the possibilitie
s of a unified approach of all these phenomena tha
t takes into account the relevant facts about comm
itment, denial, and projection. For more informa
 tion, see https://sites.google.com/site/background
