DESCRIPTION:The first CROSSING Winter School on Qu
 antum Security will take place in Darmstadt, Germa
 ny, from January 25th to January 29th, 2016. The s
 chool is aimed mainly at young students and securi
 ty researchers with interest in quantum cryptograp
 hy, quantum computing, and quantum complexity theo
 ry.  As quantum computing slowly but steadily make
 s its way from the realm of science fiction to the
  realm of feasibility, modern cryptographic techno
 logies face the danger of becoming obsolete, expos
 ing critical infrastructures to unforeseen consequ
 ences. Good practice in security requires worst-ca
 se scenarios to be considered well before they man
 ifest in order to prevent them. For this reason, i
 n the last few years we have witnessed a growing i
 nterest in quantum security from academia, private
  companies, and governmental agencies. There is un
 fortunately often a missing link between understan
 ding the quantum theory and designing quantum-proo
 f security solutions. The aim of this winter schoo
 l is to give an opportunity to fill this gap for m
 any researchers worldwide.  The school will focus 
 on the connection between quantum information theo
 ry and cryptography, with the participation of ren
 owned international speakers. Addressed topics wil
 l include: quantum computing and quantum algorithm
 s, quantum information and code theory, quantum co
 mplexity theory and query complexity, provable sec
 urity and reductions for post-quantum cryptography
 , quantum key distribution, and other quantum cryp
