SUMMARY:Third Summer School on Mathematical Philos
 ophy for Female Students, Munich
DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20160724
DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20160730
LOCATION:Munich
DESCRIPTION:Since women are significantly underrep
resented in philosophy generally and in formal phi
losophy in particular, this summer school is aimed
at encouraging women to engage with mathematical
methods and apply them to philosophical problems.
This year the focus of the summer school will be
to provide an infrastructure for developing expert
ise in formal approaches used in (1) philosophy of
physics, (2) philosophy of biology and social sci
ence, and (3) epistemic logic and philosophy of co
gnition. The summer school will offer the opportun
ity for study in an informal setting, lively debat
e, and for the development of a network with stude
nts and professors interested in the application o
f formal methods in philosophy of science. Finally
, being located at the MCMP, the summer school wil
l also provide a stimulating and interdisciplinary
  environment for meeting like-minded philosophers.
The deadline for applications is March 1, 2016.
