SUMMARY:International Rationality Summer Institute
  2016 (IRSI), Aurich, Germany
DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20160904
DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20160916
LOCATION:Aurich, Germany
DESCRIPTION:Rationality is a key concept in psycho
logy, philosophy, and neuroscience. A divide and c
onquer approach between these disciplines, however
, has prevented them from benefitting from one ano
 ther's progress. Typically, philosophers character
ize what it means to be rational, psychologists em
pirically investigate where people's thinking conf
orms with and deviates from those norms of rationa
lity, and cognitive neuroscientists investigate th
e neural correlates of rational thinking and decis
ion-making. The aim of the “International Rationa
lity Summer Institute (IRSI)” is to overcome this
division of labor and to provide a framework in wh
ich students can learn the state of research in th
e neighboring disciplines and discuss recent devel
opments in the diverse areas of rationality resear
ch. Application deadline is April 15, 2016. For m
 ore information, see http://irsi2016.de/
