Since the f ormation of SIGHUM (ACL Special Interest Group on Language Technologies for the Socio-Economic Scien ces and Humanities), the LaTeCH workshop is also t he venue for the SIGHUM annual research and busine ss meeting. LaTeCH 2016 is to be held in conjuncti on with ACL 2016. In the Humanities, Social Scie nces, and Cultural Heritage communities there is i ncreasing interest in and demand for NLP methods f or semantic annotation, intelligent linking, disco very, querying, cleaning, and visualization of bot h primary and secondary data. These domains of app lication entail new challenges for NLP research. F or this reason, it is of mutual benefit that NLP e xperts, data specialists, and digital humanities r esearchers working in and across these domains get involved in the Computational Linguistics communi ty and present their fundamental or applied resear ch results.
