SUMMARY:Sixth Workshop on Hybrid Approaches to Tra
 nslation (HyTra-6), Osaka, Japan
DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20161211
DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20161211
LOCATION:Osaka, Japan
DESCRIPTION:Nowadays, there are more paradigms com
peting in machine translation including statistica
 l (phrase-based, hierarchical and syntax-based), n
eural-based and rule-based. Each of them has their
own advantages and disadvantages which make it wo
rth the research on hybridization, integration and
/or combination of approaches. Given that academic
and industry perspectives may differ on the opini
on of which are the most suitable paradigms, HyTra
gives a strong relevance to the participation of
both in the workshop. The fact that machine transl
ation is a highly interdisciplinary field (includi
 ng engineers, computer scientists, mathematicians,
translators, linguists?), specially in the resear
ch of hybridization, enriches the workshop in its
discussions, proceedings, invited talks and, even,
in one contributed volume published by Springer.
In this edition, HyTRA (in conjunction with COLIN
G 2016) will specially focus on motivating the coo
peration and interaction between the different hum
an components, as well as to foster innovation and
creativity in the Hybrid Machine Translation rese
arch community. That is why we encourage the parti
cipation of the different integrating fields (engi
 neers, computer scientists, mathematicians, transl
ators, linguists either from academy or industry)
to contribute to our special call of shared task p
roposals. For more information, see http://glicom
.upf.edu/hytra6/ or contact Patrik Lambert at patr
 ik.lambert at gmail.com. HyTra-6 intends to invit
e work contributions on integrating any type of da
 ta-driven and linguistic-based machine translation
approaches. Additionally we sollicit proposals fo
r shared tasks relevant to hybrid translation with
the potential to be conducted in future editions
of the HyTra workshop series. We particularly welc
ome proposals which motivate the MT industry to pa
rticipate. Deadline for Paper submission:* Septemb
 er 25th, 2016.
