DESCRIPTION:The Rudolf-Carnap-Lectures are an annu
al event started by Prof. Dr. Albert Newen from th
e Institute of Philosophy II at Ruhr-Universität B
ochum, Germany in 2007. The Lectures provide a pla
tform for distinguished scholars to present their
work in the form of several talks on their preferr
ed topic. The focus is usually on the areas of Phi
losophy of Mind, Language or Science. In turn, gra
duate students interested in these topics get the
chance to engage in extensive discussion and get i
n touch with state-of-the-art research. In additio
n, some of them have the chance to present their o
wn work on related topics during a graduate confer
ence, based on a peer review process. From June 8
-10, 2017, the next RCL will be presented by Prof.
Frank Jackson (ANU), who is going to present his
work on meaning, perception, and the nature of min
d in Bochum, as always in the context of a Graduat
e workshop where several PhD students and Postdocs
will also have the chance to present their ideas
on themes from the work of Frank Jackson. In addi
tion to Prof. Jackson's lectures, several PhD-stud
ent or early postdoc presentations (constraint: Ph
D finished 2014 or later) are planned. In addition
we have room for one or two experienced postdoc p
resentations: Postdocs (constraint: PhD finished 2
010 or later) are invited to submit an abstract in
dicating it to be a postdoc-presentation. Topics s
hould be related to the main theme of the conferen
ce in a loose sense. Papers will be selected based
  on a blind review process.
