P IV), Salvador da Bahia, Brazil

DESCRIPTION:Over the last few years approaches to
the philosophy of mathematics that focus on mathem
atical practice have been thriving. Such approache
s include the study of a wide variety of issues co
ncerned with the way mathematics is done, evaluate
d, and applied, and in addition, or in connection
therewith, with historical episodes or traditions,
  applications, educational problems, cognitive que
stions, etc. In 2009, a group of researchers in th
is field gathered to promote the creation of the A
ssociation for the Philosophy of Mathematical Prac
tice, APMP. This association aims to become a comm
on forum that will stimulate research in philosoph
y of mathematics related to mathematical activity,
past and present, and foster joint actions. The F
ourth International Meeting of the Association for
the Philosophy of Mathematical Practice will be h
eld on October 23-27, 2017, in Salvador da Bahia,
Brazil. We welcome paper proposals within the are
a of the philosophy of mathematical practice. A ti
tle and abstract (250-500 words) should be sent be
 fore January 31, 2017. Post-doctoral fellows and d
octoral students are highly invited to send propos
 als.
