SUMMARY:Formal approaches to the dynamics of lingu
 istic interaction, Toulouse, France
DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20170717
DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20170721
LOCATION:Toulouse, France
DESCRIPTION:It is uncontentious that natural langu
age use involves interaction; between participants
in a dialogue, between modalities such as vision,
gesture and speech, and between new and existing
information in language acquisition, for example.
For this ESSLLI 2017 workshop we maintain a broad
notion of interaction, roughly the production and
exchange of information between agents of some sor
t, be they natural or artificial (e.g. avatars or
modelling devices as in certain types of logics).
We favour contributions which focus on the dynamic
s of the information exchange and discuss formal m
odels to reconstruct it. We are accepting submiss
ions for both posters and oral presentations. Pape
rs should be anonymous and up to 4 pages of conten
t (with one additional page for references). Submi
ssions deadline: 24 February 2017. In addition to
topics tied up with n-party communication using d
ifferent communication media and human-computer in
teraction we also welcome contributions dealing wi
th exchanges between semiotic systems or contact b
etween languages. In addition, on a more fine-grai
ned level we would like to have contributions on i
nteraction between different modalities such as sp
eech and, respectively, nonverbal context, intonat
ion, eye-tracking processes, gesture, facial expre
 ssion and perhaps still others.
