SUMMARY:Workshop "Culture and Cognition", Göttinge
 n, Germany
DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20170209
DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20170209
LOCATION:Göttingen, Germany
DESCRIPTION:A number of disciplines make use of th
e concept of culture in their analyses, employing
it in different contexts and with varying degrees
of explicitness. There are myriad definitions of '
culture', and open questions about how culture is
related to social life, evolution, and cognitive p
rocesses on the individual level - e.g. in human p
sychology as explored in both developmental and cr
oss-cultural analyses - and in the understanding o
f non-human behaviors such as social learning, imi
tation, and creative problem solving. The goal of
the workshop is to highlight interdisciplinary co
nnections that will ameliorate our understanding o
f the phenomenon of culture and the ways in which
this concept can enrich our analyses of cognition.
