DESCRIPTION:In a one day workshop at Leibniz Unive
 rsität Hannover, we will discuss the merits and ch
 allenges of the notion of progress. A special emph
 asis will be put on progress in science and ethics
  as well as the work of Philip Kitcher regarding t
 hese fields. However, progress in further areas (e
 conomy, law, politics) as well as contributions un
 related to Kitcher are also welcome. Philip Kitche
 r will be present at the workshop and give a keyno
 te lecture.  We invite submissions for 30 minutes 
 talks (plus 20 minutes discussion); there are four
  to five free slots. Please submit a short abstrac
 t including no more than 200 words and an extended
  abstract with no more than 750 words.
