DESCRIPTION:Charles Peirce introduced the term 'am
 pliative' for reasoning in which the conclusion of
  an argument goes beyond that what is already cont
 ained in its premises. The workshop is devoted to 
 the philosophical analysis of different forms of a
 mpliative reasoning as they occur in scientific pr
 actice, such as abduction, inductive generalisatio
 n, reasoning by analogy and causal reasoning. We a
 im at a mix of contributions from formal, methodol
 ogical and historical  perspectives.  Keynote spea
 kers: Chiara Ambrosio, Ulrike Hahn and Bert Leurid
 an.  We welcome submissions on any topic that fits
  into the scope as described above.
