SUMMARY:16th International Conference on Principle
s of Knowledge Representation and Reasoning (KR 20
 18), Tempe AZ, U.S.A.

DESCRIPTION:Knowledge Representation and Reasoning
(KRR) is an exciting, well-established field of r
esearch. In KRR a fundamental assumption is that a
n agent's knowledge is explicitly represented in a
declarative form, suitable for processing by dedi
cated reasoning engines. This assumption, that muc
h of what an agent deals with is knowledge-based,
is common in many modern intelligent systems. In r
ecent years KRR has contributed to new and emergin
g fields including the semantic web, computational
biology, and the development of software agents.
The KR conference series is the leading forum for
timely in-depth presentation of progress in the t
heory and principles underlying the representation
and computational management of knowledge. Worksh
ops and tutorials will precede the KR technical pr
ogram and will run on 27-29 October 2018. KR also
features a Doctoral Consortium program, a student
mentoring program bringing together PhD students
and senior researchers from the area of KR. Applic
ation deadline: June 24, 2018. We solicit papers
presenting novel results on the principles of KRR
that clearly contribute to the formal foundations
of relevant problems or show the applicability of
results to implemented or implementable systems. W
e also welcome papers from other areas that show c
lear use of, or contributions to, the principles o
r practice of KRR. We also encourage "reports from
the field" of applications, experiments, developm
ents, and tests. We invite two kinds of submission
s: full papers and short papers. For its 2018 edi
tion, KR will solicit proposals for both the Tutor
ial and Workshop tracks. Tutorials and workshops w
ill be held from 27 to 29 October 2018, prior to t
he KR main technical program, which will run from
30 October to 1 November 2018. The deadline for pr
oposal submissions  is 21 February 2018.
