SUMMARY:Special Session on Natural Language Proces
sing in Artificial Intelligence (NLPinAI 2018) at
ICAART 2018, Funchal, Madeira - Portugal
DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20180116
DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20180118
LOCATION:Funchal, Madeira - Portugal
DESCRIPTION:Computational and technological develo
pments that incorporate natural language are proli
ferating. Adequate coverage encounters difficult p
 roblems related to partiality, underspecification,
and context-dependency, which are signature featu
res of information in nature and natural languages
. Furthermore, agents (humans or computational sys
tems) are information conveyors, interpreters, or
participate as components of informational content
. Generally, language processing depends on agents
' knowledge, reasoning, perspectives, and interact
ions. The session covers theoretical work, advanc
ed applications, approaches, and techniques for co
mputational models of information and its presenta
tion by language (artificial, human, or natural in
other ways). The goal is to promote intelligent n
atural language processing and related models of t
hought, mental states, reasoning, and other cognit
ive processes. We invite contributions relevant t
o any of the session topics. Authors can submit th
eir work in the form of a Regular Paper, represent
ing completed and validated research, or as a Posi
tion Paper, for preliminary work in progress.
