DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20171119
LOCATION:Poznan, Poland
DESCRIPTION:The 8th Language and Technology Confer
ence (LTC 2017) is a meeting organized by the Facu
lty of Mathematics and Computer Science of the Ada
m Mickiewicz University, Poznań, Poland and the Ad
am Mickiewicz University Foundation. Following the
tradition of the past events, it is supported by
ELRA, FlaReNet, and META-NET. Since the very begin
ning (1995) the meetings of the LTC series continu
e to address Human Language Technologies (HLT) as
a challenge for computer science, linguistics and
related fields. This year the conference will fea
ture invited talks by Chris Cieri (Penn State Univ
ersity, USA), Verónica Dahl (Simon Fraser Universi
ty, School of Computing Science, Burnaby B.C., Can
ada) , Joseph van Genabith (DFKI, Germany), and Ja
n Wielemaker (University of Amsterdam, Netherlands
). In memory of Alain Colmerauer who left us on M
ay 13, 2017, and to whom LTC 2017 is dedicated, we
organize a special session, for which contributio
ns that rely or extend his work, as well concernin
g himself are solicited. These contributions can b
e research as well as state of the art papers, min
i-tutorials or demos. Besides papers on new result
s we will highly appreciate contributions reportin
g on author's former results (already published or
not), often remaining unknown to the large public
, in particular those that directly refer to the w
ork of Alain Colmeauer and/or his students. Also c
ritical and comparative studies concerning logic p
rograming versus other programming paradigms are w
 elcome.
