SUMMARY:Workshop Bridging formal and conceptual se
 mantics (BRIDGE 2018), Sofia, Bulgaria
DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20180806
DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20180810
LOCATION:Sofia, Bulgaria
DESCRIPTION:The main aim of this ESSLLI 2018 works
hop is to get together linguists, philosophers and
cognitive scientists from the two leading researc
h traditions of natural language meaning, often re
ferred to them as "formal semantics" and "conceptu
al semantics". The workshop provides a platform to
investigate and discuss the ways of possible brid
ges between the two semantic perspectives, and to
initiate a deeper conversation and collaboration b
etween them. The workshop intends to gather approa
ches that show the way how the two perspectives ca
n strengthen each other. The workshop holds 6 hig
h-quality contributed talks, each of 45 minutes in
cluding discussions, and invited talks by Gemma Bo
leda (Universitat Pompeu Fabra) and James Pustejov
sky (Brandeis University). The workshop invites h
igh-quality submissions on topics closely related
to the main issue of the workshop, for 45 minutes
talks (incl. discussion). The submission of the ab
stracts will be handled via  EasyChair. Authors ca
n submit anonymous abstracts of max. 2 pages.
