SUMMARY:Mini-Symposium "Mathematical Logic" at the
  18th EWM meeting, Graz, Austria
DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20180903
DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20180903
LOCATION:Graz, Austria
DESCRIPTION:The 18th European Women in Mathematics
General Meeting  focuses on female mathematicians
and their achievements. As part of this event, th
e Mini-Symposium on Mathematical Logic concentrate
s on recent results that demonstrate the fruitfuln
ess of working at the interface between different
parts of logic -- that is, model theory, set theor
y, recursion (or computability) theory and proof t
heory -- or between logic and other areas of mathe
matics. Our speakers therefore come from different
fields of mathematical logic and are interested i
n cross-connections between their fields and areas
of application such as topology, group theory, re
al geometry and combinatorics. For the general aud
ience we are planning an introductory lecture on r
ecent developments in model theory and its applica
tions to real geometry. Invited speakers: Laura F
ontanella (Université Aix Marseille), Charlotte Ke
stner (Imperial College, London) Salma Kuhlmann (U
niversity of Konstanz), Heike Mildenberger (Albert
-Ludwigs University of Freiburg), Diana Carolina M
ontoya (Kurt Gödel Research Center, Vienna). We i
nvite female researchers to apply for very short c
ontributed talks (10-12 minutes) at the Mini-Sympo
sium. Also, application is now open for travel sup
port for graduate students to participate in the M
ini-Symposium. We also encourage female researcher
s to contribute posters to a thematic grouping on
Mathematical Logic as part of the EWM's poster ses
 sion.
