SUMMARY:Summer School and Workshop "Concepts in Ac
 tion - Representation, Learning & Application" (C
 ARLA), Osnabrueck, Germany
DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20180806
DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20180812
LOCATION:Osnabrueck, Germany
DESCRIPTION:The summer school will bring together
researchers from different disciplines with the go
al of providing participants with knowledge about
concept research outside of their own fields and t
o initiate interdisciplinary exchanges and researc
 h. The subsequent and co-located international wor
kshop provides an excellent opportunity to present
and discuss ongoing research on concepts. Both e
vents will focus on (but not be restricted to) thr
ee core questions: How can we formally describe an
d model concepts? Where do concepts come from, and
how are they acquired? How are concepts used in c
ognitive tasks? Both the school participants and
external researchers are invited to submit abstrac
ts to the workshop for oral or poster presentation
 s. The organizers invite ontributions from all fie
lds related to cognitive science, including (but n
ot limited to) linguistics, artificial intelligenc
e, psychology, philosophy, logic, and computer sci
ence. Although the workshop is open for research o
n any aspect of concepts, there exists a set of co
re topics that are of special interest: Representa
 tion, Learning, and Application.
