DESCRIPTION:The ILLC has a new group, called the C
ausal Inference Lab, dedicated to investigating ca
usality. The group hosts a reading group every sec
ond Monday, 13:00-15:00, which everyone very welco
me to attend. For our next session, Monday 18 Feb
ruary 13:00-15:00, we will read Rachael Briggs' pa
 per, 'Interventionist Counterfactuals' (https://do
 i.org/10.1007/s11098-012-9908-5). Briggs applies c
ausal models to represent the truth-conditionals o
f counterfactuals such as "If you had taken the tr
ain or the metro, you would have arrived on time."
If you are interested in discussing causal infer
ence with us, please do come along!
