DESCRIPTION:The literature on question-embedding p
redicates has generally focused on the restriction
s of certain predicates and the complements they c
an take as argument. However, the discussion becom
es even more convoluted when we take the analysis
 cross-linguistically. My presentation explores a c
onstruction that exists in Spanish, but not in Eng
lish, which allows a speaker to unambiguously repo
rt a question that this construction demands a mor
e detailed analysis of question-embedding predicat
es. I will present such an analysis as well as int
roduce a test in order to highlight a correlation
between a property shared by all verbs that share
this construction that take this construction, whi
ch is not shared by predicates that do not. It's g
 oing to be very verby!
