SUMMARY:Reading Group: Elements of Causal Inferenc
 e
DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20211109
DESCRIPTION:The reading group is about the book: P
eters, Janzing & Schölkopf (2017), Elements of Cau
sal Inference: Foundations and Learning Algorithms
, The MIT Press. The book "teaches readers how to
use causal models: how to compute intervention dis
tributions, how to infer causal models from observ
ational and interventional data, and how causal id
eas could be exploited for classical machine learn
ing problems". It can be openly accessed from the
publisher's website. For our first meeting, we ha
ve to read the first three chapters: 1. Statistic
al and Causal Models (pp. 1-14) 2. Assumptions fo
 r Causal Inference (pp. 15-32) 3. Cause-Effect Mod
els (pp. 33-42). The reading group is held under
the supervision of Dr. Katrin Schultz and is organ
ized along with Evan Iatrou (MoL student, evangelo
 s.iat at gmail.com).
