SUMMARY:New Perspectives on Bias and Discriminatio
 n in Language Technology
DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20241104
DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20241105
LOCATION:Amsterdam, the Netherlands
DESCRIPTION:One of the central issues discussed in
the context of the societal impact of language te
chnology is that machine learning systems can cont
ribute to discrimination, for instance by propagat
ing human biases and stereotypes. Despite efforts
to address these issues, we are far from solving t
hem. The goal of this workshop is to bring togeth
er researchers from different fields to discuss th
e state of the art on bias measurement and mitigat
ion in language technology and to explore new aven
ues of approach. For more information, read our Ca
ll for Abstracts. Authors can submit an anonymous
abstract of max 800 words (excluding references),
with an optional additional page for tables and f
igures. Abstracts can be submitted using EasyChair
. We ask authors to indicate their preference for
one of two presentation formats:20 minutes talk wi
th 10 minutes discussion, or poster presentation.
