The Theta system (what has been labelled in Chomsky's Principles and Parameters f ramework 'Theta theory') is a system enabling the interface between the systems of concepts and the computational system syntax (and, via the syntacti c representations, with the semantic inference sys tems). The first part (block) of the course is designed as intensive introduction to the basics o f the system as explained below. In the second par t we hope to go in depth into some new problems th at are not satisfactorily solved yet. Along with t heoretical research, a further goal of the course is implementation of the system using parsing tool s developed by Van Eijck. For more information, see here or contact Jan van Eijck (jve at cwi.nl) or Tanya Reinhart (tanya.reinhart at let.uu.nl). X-ALT-DESC;FMTTYPE=text/html:\n
