DESCRIPTION:For both ACLC and ILLC understanding n
atural language is `core business', but hitherto c
ontact between the two institutes has been limited
. Recently several areas have been identified, whe
re we would like to profit from each other's exper
tise. For example, the formal semanticists working
on tense and aspect are very much interested in t
ypology, and conversely functional linguists have
become interested in formal models of discourse. D
uring the afternoon, four speakers will introduce
topics that might grow into areas of common resear
ch. Participants who want to discuss other such to
pics are most welcome to do so. For more informa
tion, see the DIP Colloqium page at https://www.il
