Title: The Geometry of Manipulation
Date: Thursday 7 April 2011
Time: 16:00
Location: Room C1.112, Science Park 904, Amsterdam

We take a fresh look at voting theory, in particular at the notion of manipulation, by studying the geometry of the Saari triangle. This yields a much simplified proof of the Gibbard/Satterthwaite theorem, and new insight into what it means to manipulate the vote.
