SUMMARY:AC'2011 Workshop on Inquisitiveness, Amste
 rdam, the Netherlands
DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20111219
DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20111221
LOCATION:Amsterdam, the Netherlands
DESCRIPTION:Questions and answers are a major topi
c in semantics and pragmatics, and to some extent
in logic and philosophy as well. This interest in
inquisitiveness goes beyond the interpretation of
questions as such. For example, questions are wide
ly assumed to play a structural role in the analys
is of discourse. Likewise, most theories on focus
and the interpretation of intonation make a link w
ith the question-answerhood relation. More radical
ly it has been argued that a proper understanding
of seemingly purely informative constructions, lik
e disjunctions and conditionals, requires a notion
of inquisitiveness as a basic ingredient of meani
ng. The main aim of this workshop is to investigat
e the significance of inquisitiveness for semantic
s, pragmatics, and logic. For more information, s
 ee https://sites.google.com/site/inquisitivesemant

terdam Colloquium 2011. The Programme Committee
cordially invites all researchers to submit their
papers for presentation. Deadline for abstract sub
 missions: 1 September 2011
