DESCRIPTION:The Workshops on Optimality Theory Syn
 tax (WOTS) played an important role in the past ye
 ars for bringing together linguists sharing an int
 erest in OT syntax. They provided excellent opport
 unities for researchers pioneering in OT syntax to
  present their work in progress and they provided 
 a matrix for lively discussions and fruitful colla
 boration among those researchers and other partici
 pants. This year for the first time WOTS is organi
 zed outside Germany, which indicates its still gro
 wing international character.   For more informati

 l/pionier/wots7.htm   We welcome abstracts for 45-
 minute talks on any topic in OT syntax. Papers tha
 t deal with the syntax-semantics interface and pap
 ers that take a perspective on synchronic and diac
 hronic variation are especially welcome. Deadline 
 for abstract submission is August 15th, 2003.
