LOCATION:Amsterdam, The Netherlands
DESCRIPTION:This symposium is the second of three
devoted to the exploration of the common ground be
tween the "Logic and Natural Language Processing"
Area of CoLogNET (Network of Excellence in Computa
 tional Logic, http://www.colognet.org/) and ELSNET
(Network of Excellence in Human Language Technolo
gies, http://www.elsnet.org/). The topic of this s
ession is 'Questions and Answers'. The symposium w
ill address both the logical foundations underlyin
g these notions, and technological implications fo
r question answering systems. The symposium aim
s at bringing together researchers interested in a
combination of theoretical and applied perspectiv
es, and invites an exchange of ideas between compu
tational linguists, computer scientists and logici
ans. It will feature invited talks by leading rese
archers from academia and industry as well as a nu
mber of contributed talks. Invited speakers are Je
roen Groenendijk (ILLC, University of Amsterdam),
Werner Ceusters (Language and Computing) and Karen
Spärck Jones (Computer Laboratory, University of
Cambridge). The symposium will be co-located with
the Fourteenth Amsterdam Colloqium. Deadline fo
r submission of papers is September 1, 2003. A sel
