DESCRIPTION:Abstract: Herakleitos' sparse remark
s on a "logos" have been deemed dark, but 2500 yea
rs later we can see that they are not as dark as W
ittgenstein's TLP. I will use modern findings to s
how that they naturally fit in Wittgenstein's prog
ram, and that they help us to transform Aristotle'
s square of opposition into an obvious cube of opp
osition. If time permits I will argue that Herakle
itos' logic of distinction is also appropriately c
onceived of as dynamic in nature, and that it natu
rally fits his own, even more sparse, remarks on e
thical matters. For more information, write to in
 escrespo at uva.nl or P.J.E.Dekker at uva.nl.
