SUMMARY:Workshop on Modelling Meets Infant Studies
  in Language Acquisition
DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20130909
DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20130913
LOCATION:Lorentz Center, Niels Bohrweg 2, Leiden,
 The Netherlands
DESCRIPTION:The study of first language acquisitio
n is crucial in furthering our understanding of th
e cognitive prerequisites and processes involved i
n language, a defining capacity of human cognition
. Currently, early language acquisition is success
fully studied from two main perspectives: one appr
oach tests theoretical assumptions by studying inf
ants' responses with behavioural and neurocognitiv
e methods; the other implements theories by means
of computational models. This workshop aims to bri
ng these two approaches closer together, a much ne
eded advance in the field and one that promises to
deepen our understanding of the issues that play
a role during language acquisition. For more info
