DESCRIPTION:Abstract: This lecture will be an intr
oduction to the theory of judgment aggregation (JA
). JA deals with the problem of combining the view
s of several individual agents regarding the truth
of a number of propositions, expressed in the lan
guage of logic, into a single such view that appro
priately reflects the stance of the group as a who
le. Applications of JA range from aggregating the
opinions of several judges in a court of law into
a single legal opinion, all the way to aggregating
information received from several autonomous soft
ware agents in the context of distributed computin
g systems. For more information, see http://www.a
