DESCRIPTION:The title of my research, and my talk,
  is "Modelling the Visual Number Sense Using a Dee
 p Generative Neural Network". For my research proj
 ect I have replicated a study done in 2012 by Stoi
 anov and Zorzi: "Emergence of a 'visual number sen
 se' in hierarchical generative models"(http://cogn
 itrn.psych.indiana.edu/rgoldsto/courses/cogscilear
 ning/). The authors trained two stacked Restricted
  Boltzmann Machines on reproducing simple binary i
 mages containing varying numbers of rectangular ob
 jects. After training, this model was able to sust
 ain numerosity estimation by linear classifiers fe
 d with its output. I have not been able to replica
 te all their results, and offer the likely causes
