DESCRIPTION:In October 1996, the Dutch national re
 search organization NWO awarded one of its annual 
 Spinoza grants to Johan van Benthem, professor of 
 logic at the Universiteit van Amsterdam. This gran
 t led to the project 'Logic in Action', whose gene
 ral aims were the study of information flow and th
 e promotion of logic within the information scienc
 es.  5 years and 2 million guilders later the proj
 ect is coming to an end. On December 20 there will
  be a one-day event to officially close 'Logic in 
 Action' and reflect on the future. We are pleased
