DESCRIPTION:Shared tasks and (shared) corpora have
  proven themselves highly valuable for NLP. They h
 ave allowed us to evaluate our methods and compare
  them to others helping us, our readers and review
 ers to assess the quality of our methods. In this 
 talk, I will present two studies taking intrinsic 
 evaluation one step further 1) investigating error
  propagation in parsing and 2) diving in the evalu
 ation of distributional semantic methods. Finally,
  I will outline the importance of deeper evaluatio
 n when NLP is used within digital humanities and d
 igital social science.
