DESCRIPTION:During the 386th Dies Natalis (birthda
 y) of the University of Amsterdam Prof. Barbara Pa
 rtee will receive an honorary doctorate for the cr
 ucial role she played in the development of the fo
 rmal semantics of natural language. The Honorary S
 upervisors are Prof. Sonja Smets, professor of Log
 ic and Epistemology, and Prof. Martin Stokhof, pro
 fessor of Philosophy of Language.  The day after t
 he the honorary doctorate is awarded, on the 9th o
 f January 2018, the ILLC will organise a workshop 
 to mark this special occassion. Among the speakers
  will be Barbara Partee.
