DESCRIPTION:Our part time professor Krzysztof Apt 
 is appointed CWI Fellow on 1 April 2008. This titl
 e is given to outstanding members of CWI's researc
 h staff and offers them full freedom in research. 
   At CWI Apt is member of the research group Algor
 ithms, Combinatorics and Optimization. In 2006 he 
 was appointed member of the Academia Europæa. He i
 s founder and past Editor-in-Chief of the ACM Tran
 sactions in Computational Logic. Apt published fou
 r books and numerous journal articles, in computer
  science, mathematical logic and, more recently, g
 ame theory.   In honour of his appointment, and to
  mark the growing interaction between economics an
 d computer science, CWI organizes a symposium on g
 ame theory on 27 May 2008. Invited distinguished s
 peakers on this Game Theory Day at CWI are Christo
 s Papadimitriou (University of California, Berkele
 y) and our Beth Chair holder Dov Samet (Tel Aviv U
