Friedrich-Schiller-Universität, Jena

A position as professor (W2/W3) is available for
Theoretical Computer Science.
An internationally renowned researcher in the field of theoretical computer science is being sought.

Fields of research for the qualified candidate should be in the areas of algorithms and data structures, logic and languages, learning theory, or the modeling of discrete systems.

The position is to supplement the already existing areas of research and focus within the department.

In addition to conducting courses in the core area of theoretical computer science for the computer science program, commitment to other courses of study within the department is expected.

The prerequisites for applying include a postdoctoral lecture qualification or equivalent postdoctoral work, recognized research activity, and relevant teaching experience. The acquisition of third-party funding is expected as part of this position.

The university in Jena is striving to increase the number of women conducting research and providing instruction and accordingly encourages women to apply. Qualified applicants with disabilities will be considered with equal preference.

Should this position be a candidate's first appointment to a professorship, employment status will initially be terminable as a matter of principle; exceptions to this limitation are possible.

Knowledge of German language is expected. Most courses have to be taught in German.

Applications with the customary documentation (certifications, resume with scholarly and professional development, list of publications, index of courses taught, description of interests and research preferences, as well as a listing of hitherto received third-party funding) are to be sent by March 31st, 2006 to:
