Entry requirements

The minor is open for students of the UvA or other Dutch universities but also exchange students and contract students.

The application deadline is twice per year. On the 1st of June (for a start in September) and on the 1st of December (for a start in February).

Students need to take one introductory logic course in advance. For UvA students, the following courses are regarded as introductory courses for this minor:

  • Inleiding Wiskundige Logica (BSc Mathematics, 3EC, Sem 2)
  • Logica en de Linguistic Turn (BA Philosophy, 12EC, Sem 1)
  • Inleiding Logica (BSc Artificial Intelligence, 6 EC, Sem 1)
  • Discrete Wiskunde en Logica (BSc Computer science, 6 EC, Sem 1)
  • Logic, Information, Argumentation (AUC, 6 EC, Sem 1 & 2, only for VU or UvA honours students)
  • Project Logic and Computation 1: Introduction to Logic (BSc Mathematics, 3EC, Sem 1 & 2)

Students from outside the UvA can submit a course from their own curriculum for approval by the minor coordinator.

Students with no prior knowledge of logic are also welcome but they will have to follow one of the courses above, before the start of the minor.
