Open PhD Position at ILLC

The ILLC is looking for a PhD student in the field of Philosophy of Language, Philosophical Logic, or Computational Linguistics. Depending on the subject, the student will become part of the project Theory of Interpretation or Cognitive Systems and Information Processing .

Requirements

Applicants must have a Master's degree in a relevant discipline, and should have completed their studies no longer than 5 years ago. Knowledge of Dutch is not a prerequisite, but learning the language will be strongly encouraged.

Appointment

The PhD student will get an appointment for four years at the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Amsterdam. The salary will be 1,445 Euros in the first year rising to 2,063 Euros in the fourth year, gross per month for a fulltime appointment. A small component (approximately 10%) of this appointment consists of teaching.

Information and applications

Applicants should submit a project proposal of approximately 3 pages, including a short introduction. In this project proposal the applicant should make clear on what subject he or she wants to do research, and draw up a general research plan for four years.
