The podcast Talk That Science hosted by students from the Master of Logic has published an episode on Avatars for Sign Language with Floris Roelofsen.

There are 70 million deaf and hearing impaired people in the world, but there is so far no tool to translate a written language to a sign language. This is about to change: Floris Roelfsen - our guest this episode - is currently working on a project to develop an avatar that can speak sign language. We will talk about the importance of sign language, about how it differs from written and spoken languages and about how we can develop such an avatar. Meanwhile, we play some songs to the topic, ranging from "Express Yourself" to "Vibrations on a String" - because even though we cannot all listen to music, we can all hear its vibrations! Listen to the episode on Spotify, Soundcloud, Apple Podcasts or Mixcloud.
